2010 Effingham County Community Foundation Scholarship Award Winners Announced

The Effingham County Community Foundation has made scholarship announcements for the Ray, Mary and Tim Niebrugge Scholarship, Delbert & Maradyl Facklam Scholarship and the Dieterich Community Education Fund Scholarship.

RAY, MARY AND TIM NIEBRUGGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Ray, Mary and Tim Niebrugge Scholarship Fund was created in 2008 and scholarships are awarded to graduates of Effingham County High Schools. The scholarship criteria is based on financial need, grade point average, merit, and achievement on the ACT or SAT. Graduates applying for this scholarship must be enrolled as a full time college student in a 2 or 4 year college, university or technical school. A recipient from a prior year may reapply each year they are in college. This year there were 12 recipients.

THE DELBERT & MARADYL FACKLAM SCHOLARSHIP

The Delbert & Maradyl Facklam Scholarship Fund was created in memory of the Teutopolis High School faculty and the class mates of the graduating class of 1939. Applicants for this scholarship must be a Teutopolis High School graduating senior who plans to continue his/her education in a college or university. The applicant must express their intent to give back to their community and must demonstrate their financial need. This year’s recipient is Jennifer Vogt (pictured below).

DIETERICH COMMUNITY EDUCATION FUND

The Dieterich Education Fund was created in 2007 to provide all Dieterich graduating seniors (who meet the requirements) a scholarship. This year 39 of the 43 graduating seniors were eligible for a $200 scholarship. Seniors must be a resident of the Dieterich Community Unit #30 School District, attend eight consecutive years of school at DCUSD, attending a post secondary school in the state of Illinois that receives state or federal funding, must maintain a minimum of a “C” average, and must be enrolled as a full time student. Graduating seniors of DCUSD who are receiving a full ride to the college of their choice are ineligible for this scholarship.
