Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation serves as the nonprofit “umbrella” organization for its component funds. Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is a public charity under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), which enables its funds to receive tax-deductible contributions. The Community Foundation prepares and files the IRS Form 990 and obtains an audit of its financial statements by an independent CPA firm. This frees up our fund advisors’ time, money and energy and insures full compliance with all legal requirements.

Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation provides professional services for its funds, including all day-to-day financial record keeping, disbursements, financial reports and endowed asset management. This allows fund advisors to fully focus on their mission of cultivating charitable giving for community improvement.

The Community Foundation provides real-time assistance to fund advisors for goal setting, strategic planning, leadership development, donor cultivation, fundraising and endowment building. The Community Foundation’s development staff members consult one-on-one with community leaders to answer questions, share techniques and solve problems with the goal of building broad-based support for community philanthropy.

Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation assists attorneys, CPAs, insurance agents, financial planners, bankers and brokers and their clients with charitable gift planning. Brochures, materials and consultation are available at no charge.

The Community Foundation provides its fund advisors with marketing materials at minimal or no cost, and assists local leaders in developing customized brochures, fundraising letters, press releases and news articles. Individual funds share the Community Foundation’s website to share information, attract potential donors and financial planners and accept online donations.

Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Community Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of a diverse group of community leaders from across its region. As a 501(c)(3) organization, Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation files a Form 990 tax return with the IRS annually. The Form 990 is open to public inspection. The forms for the three most recent fiscal years of the Community Foundation are available in our online resource center. Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation’s financial statements are audited annually by an independent public accounting firm. A copy of our audited financial statements may be obtained through our online resource center. The board of directors and staff of Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation are committed to good governance practices, transparency and accountability to the communities, organizations and donors that we serve.
