ways to give

There are many ways to give.

Straight-forward & Simple

A gift of cash is a simple and easy way for you to make a gift. You will receive a charitable tax deduction that will provide you with savings on this year’s tax return.

Real Estate or Farmland

A gift of your real property (such as your home, vacation property, vacant land, farmland or ranch or commercial property) can make a great gift. If you own appreciated real property, you can avoid paying capital gains tax by making a gift to us.

A gift of farmland allows the Community Foundation to maintain ownership of the land indefinitely. Our Fields of Opportunity farmland giving program puts Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation in a unique position to receive and retain gifts of farmland and use the available income to benefit local charities that make our rural hometowns stronger and better places to live

Avoid Taxes on Retirement Assets

Did you know that 60%-70% of your retirement assets may be taxed if you leave them to your heirs at your death? Another option is to leave your heirs assets that receive a step up in basis, such as real estate and stock, and give the retirement assets to the Community Foundation. As a charity, we are not taxed upon receiving an IRA or other retirement plan assets.

where to give

Types of Funds.

There’s a variety of ways to give through the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, from the ever popular donor advised fund to an endowed field of interest fund that allows you to have a permanent impact on a cause you care deeply about.

A designated fund provides a consistent stream of income for a specific nonprofit or program you care about—forever. The funds are used for general operations or a program of your choice to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for your charity of choice.

You identify your passion or area of charitable interest. This can be as broad or narrow as you choose (ie, Arts, Literacy, Human Services, etc). SICF will evaluate organizations that do the best work in your field of interest, then makes grants to the organization(s) that best fit your field of interest

Donor Advised Funds Make Giving Easy, enabling you to make tax-deductible charitable contributions immediately, without having to identify nonprofit beneficiaries right away. Instead, your gifts are invested, based on your preferences, so that they may grow. Once ready, you can recommend grants from your fund to your desired, eligible nonprofits.

The Community Foundation is here to help you maximize your corporate giving impact, through a variety of donation, foundation and fund opportunities. Contact us to discuss how we can help your company give back to its community.

Nonprofit endowment funds help your organization establish a stable stream of income, building annual revenue and alleviating the pressures of constant fundraising. They are also a great way for donors to contribute to the sustainability and future of your organization.

An endowed scholarship makes a lasting difference by helping deserving students over a long period of time. Your gift is invested to create ongoing revenue that allows your initial gift to continue benefiting students for years to come.
