The Effingham County Community Foundation is requesting proposals for the 2010 grant cycle, according to Joedy Hightower, President/CEO of the community foundation. $29,400 will be available this year to assist nonprofit organizations in efforts related to visual arts, youth initiatives, workforce development, child care and early childhood education, and land use and protection. Applications received by the May 31st deadline are evaluated by a committee of community leaders prior to recommendation to the community foundation Board for funding.

This year’s grant areas are similar to those from last year’s grant process according to the community foundation’s Program Director, Amanda Standerfer. “Through these grants the community foundation Board is continuing the Communityworks issue areas that they have focused on for the past 5 years,” said Standerfer. Grants addressing issues in workforce development, child care and early childhood education, and land use and protection will be considered.

The deadline to submit an application is May 31,2010. Grant recipients are announced by September 1st. Applications are available on the foundation’s website www.enrichingourcommunity.org under the Effingham County Grants section.
