The Mattoon Area Community Foundation recently awarded grants to five Coles County non-profits on behalf of the CommunityWorks Endowment Fund in the amount of $1,500 each. Recipients presented community improvement projects in the areas of workforce development, early childhood education, land use and protection, and organizational leadership. This years recipients were Mid-Illinois Big Brothers Big Sisters, Charleston Carnegie Public Library, Coles County CASA, Coles County Mental Health Association/LifeLinks, and Mattoon Civil War Memorial Ellipse Group.
