(Mattoon, Illinois – August 4, 2025) The Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now open for two grant opportunities from the Mattoon Foundation for Academic Excellence Fund: Family Engagement Mini-Grants and Community Engagement Grants. These grants aim to strengthen partnerships between families, schools, and the community to improve student learning and development.
Family Engagement Mini-Grants
Up to five (5) grants of $1,000 will be awarded to teachers and staff in Mattoon Community Unit School District 2. Projects should promote meaningful family involvement in education through improved communication, welcoming environments, and shared decision-making.
Community Engagement Grants
Up to two (2) grants of $10,000 will be awarded for student-driven projects that connect classrooms to the local community. Projects must address curricular outcomes and include active community participation. Administrator and community partner references are required.
Eligibility:
Teachers and staff in Mattoon CUSD #2 are encouraged to apply. All grants are for the current school year.
