Chandler Martelli of Effingham has been named the recipient of the 2016 Open Prairie CEO Scholarship. Chandler is the son of Mike and Shelly Martelli and a 2016 graduate of St. Anthony High School.
Chandler plans to study international business at Quincy University and will minor in chemistry with interests in the pharmaceutical and agricultural chemical markets. He will receive $4,000 paid over the course of four years. During the CEO program, Chandler operated VarsiTees, a high school spirit-wear clothing line for Effingham County high schools.
The mission of the CEO program is that graduates demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking that sustains their thirst for life-long learning, are ready to compete in the global economy and are inspired to come back and give back to their hometown. According to Jim Schultz, CEO of Open Prairie Ventures, “Assisting with the education of CEO graduates is one of the best investments we can make in the economic future of our community.”
