Immanuel Lutheran Church is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Effingham County CommunityWorks Endowment for the Altamont After School Care program. These funds will provide support for the program’s operating costs, which include payroll for four staff members as well as insurance costs.
The after school program is free and available to students from kindergarten to sixth grade who attend Altamont Grade School and Altamont Lutheran Interparish School. It was established “to offer a safe, comfortable, Christian environment for children who would otherwise be home and have no access to affordable, supervised after school care.” The program is currently in its eighth year of operation and has a daily attendance range of 75-95 students.
