(Franklin County, Indiana – December 18, 2024) Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is pleased to announce the Siemer Milling Endowment for Youth Leadership Development has awarded $5,500 to Purdue Extension, Franklin County 4-H Program. The grant will implement the second annual Discover Franklin County SPARK Club in June 2025. Serving over 500 youth, the 4-H program aims to provide positive youth development opportunities. The SPARK Club offers activities such as rafting, historic tours, horseback riding, and paddle boarding. Due to last year’s positive response, the program will expand to six days with two sessions to reach more youth. Additional activities and increased involvement from 4-H adult volunteers are planned to enhance the experience.
The Siemer Milling Company Endowment for Youth Leadership Development, a fund of Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, was established in 2006 to provide a permanent source of funding to programs in Effingham County that support young leaders’ development. Since its inception, the Siemer Milling Company Endowment has contributed more than $400,000 to nonprofit organizations serving Effingham County, Illinois, Franklin and Dearborn County, Indiana; Harrison, Ohio in Hamilton County; and Christian County, Kentucky.
