Announcing recipients of the Siemer Milling Endowment for Youth Leadership Development Grant for 2024

(HARRISON, Ohio – December 18, 2024) Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is pleased to announce the Siemer Milling Endowment for Youth Leadership Development has awarded $6,000 to William Henry Harrison High School SkillsUSA Club.  The grant will support the newly established  SkillsUSA chapter, a student organization focused on career and technical education (CTE) and leadership development. This chapter will offer students hands-on experiences, competitions, and community service opportunities, empowering them to explore their passions, develop essential skills, and pursue successful careers in various STEM fields. The program includes competitive events, leadership development, career exploration, mentorship, and community service, all aimed at providing a well-rounded education that prepares students for future success and leadership roles. The grant will fund necessary equipment, supplies, and travel expenses, ensuring the chapter’s sustainability through fundraising, partnerships, and school support.

The Siemer Milling Company Endowment for Youth Leadership Development, a fund of Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, was established in 2006 to provide a permanent source of funding to programs in Effingham County that support young leaders’ development. Since its inception, the Siemer Milling Company Endowment has contributed more than $400,000 to nonprofit organizations serving Effingham County, Illinois, Franklin and Dearborn County, Indiana; Harrison, Ohio in Hamilton County; and Christian County, Kentucky.
