The Effingham County Community Foundation selected the 2014 recipients of the Roy Robson & Roma Jackson Nursing Scholarship. The scholarship was created by Roy Robson and Roma Jackson in memory of their sister Mary Robson. Roy and his sister Roma, saw first hand the need for skilled nurses to care for their sister May, who was diabetic and required a good deal of nursing care during her lifetime.
This year’s recipients include: $1,000 Scholarship to Brady Barnes; $2,000 scholarships to
Nichole Davis, Nicole Hodge, Allison Kabbes, Amelia Kopplin, Olivia Miller, Anna Shelton, Sarah Wortman and Brittany Zacha; and a $3,000 scholarship to Katie Roedl.
Graduates of any Effingham County high school seeking a degree in nursing are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The selection criteria is based on 25% academic information and ranking; 25% financial need; 40% written essay describing educational and career goals; and 10% letter of reference from an instructor who can assess the applicants’ ability to achieve his/her educational and career goals.
