Consolidated Communications recently selected a local organization to receive this year’s grant award from the company’s fund for Economic Development and Community Leadership.
Eastern Illinois University’s Business Solutions Center (BSC) Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation was selected for this grant to support efforts to develop an entrepreneurship class in Coles County. BSC is collaborating with the Charleston, Mattoon and Oakland School Districts, the Mattoon Area Community Foundation and area businesses to bring this program to Coles County.
“We are very appreciative for Consolidated Communication’s support in helping create a Coles County Entrepreneurship Class” said Jeanne Dau, Director of the BSC. ”The BSC will serve as the catalyst for this class, but we are working with the schools, the Community Foundation and Eastern Illinois Education for Employment Systems to offer this life-changing look into the opportunities and challenges of starting and running a new venture.”
The grant is designed for collaborative projects that involve Coles County non profits organizations. Consolidated Communications recognizes the impact that can be achieved from organizations working together. This grant was intended to provide seed money for projects that involve two or more non-profits working together for a common goal.
The Consolidated Communications fund for Economic Development and Community Leadership is a component fund of the Mattoon Area Community Foundation.
