Effingham County CommunityWorks Endowment Announces 2018 Grant Recipients

The Effingham County CommunityWorks Endowment fund advisory committee recently announced the recipients of its 2018 grant program: Crisis Nursery of Effingham County, Ballard Nature Center and Effingham Unit #40.

(Above) Crisis Nursery of Effingham County received $7,500 to support the addition of a wheelchair lift to the Crisis Nursery’s building and the renovation of the building’s upstairs space. (Above) Effingham Unit #40 received $1,800 for a GAIT chair. GAIT chairs replicate the movement of equine therapy and it can be utilized by occupational and physical therapists to improve a child’s core strength, attention span, cognition communication, and fine motor skills. The Effingham County CommunityWorks Endowment is a fund of Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation and distributes annual grants to support workforce development, early childhood education and childcare, and land use and protection.
