Effingham County CommunityWorks Endowment Announces 2019 Grant Recipients

The Effingham County CommunityWorks Endowment fund advisory committee recently announced the recipients of its 2019 grant program: Crisis Nursery of Effingham County, Ballard Nature Center, Effingham Public Library and Altamont Sports Boosters. The Effingham County CommunityWorks Fund Advisory Board is comprised of members Kaye Dent, Dean Bingham, Eric Chojnicki, Karen Etter, Julie Everett, Nanci Huels, Steve Wendling, Adam Moore, Ann Wagner and Jake Niebrugge.

(Above) Crisis Nursery of Effingham County received $10,000 to support the addition of a sprinkler system that expands their capacity to serve twelve children at a time as per Illinois’ Fire Marshal Life Safety Code. (Above) Effingham Public Library received $3,608 to support the Early Literacy Outreach program. The program provides a bridge to emergent literacy resources for visits to home daycare providers in the community. The funds cover the materials for the visits including books, games, mileage and staff costs. The Effingham County CommunityWorks Endowment is a fund of Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation and distributes annual grants to support workforce development, early childhood education and childcare, and land use and protection.
