A permanent endowment fund has been established for graduates of Mattoon High School by the late Carl H. Lebovitz. A long-time supporter of the arts in Mattoon, Mr. Lebovitz named the fund the Lebovitz Lively Arts Scholarship Fund, which will provide scholarships to financially assist Mattoon High School graduates who plan to major in the visual and performing arts.
Recipients of the scholarship will be recommended by the Mattoon Arts Council. The first scholarship will be awarded in 2011. Applications will be released in March 2011 and due in April. The scholarship will be presented at the Mattoon High School awards night. More information about the scholarship will be available as the details are finalized.
