(MATTOON, Illinois – June 12, 2023) Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is pleased to announce 15 Mattoon High School seniors and graduates have been named recipients of the 2023 MHS Alumni Scholarship. A total of $17,500 has been awarded to the following students:
Emma Davis is a 2023 graduate, and she received a $2,000 Carl Eatchson Education Scholarship. She plans to attend Eastern Illinois University to study education.
Blaine Powers is a 2023 graduate, and he received a $1,000 Helen Janssen Scholarship. Blaine plans to attend Lake Land College to begin pre-med studies.
Mitchell Gergeni is a 2023 graduate, and he received a $500 Carl Eatchson Education Scholarship. He plans to attend Lake Land College to pursue a secondary education degree.
Rease Daniels is a 2023 graduate, and she received a $2,000 First Mid Bank and Trust Scholarship. Rease plans to attend the University of Tampa to pursue pre-med studies.
Luke Perry is a 2023 graduate, and he received a $1,500 Florence Parker Scholarship. Luke will begin pursuing an architecture degree at Ball State University.
Ava Willingham is a 2023 graduate, and she received a $1,500 First Mid Bank and Trust Scholarship. Ava will begin pre-med studies at the College of Charleston.
Isabella Smith is a 2022 graduate, and she received a $1,000 Florence Parker Scholarship. Isabella is attending Millikin University studying secondary education with a math emphasis.
Laney Wright is a 2023 graduate, and she received a $1,000 Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship. Laney will be attending Eastern Illinois University to begin studies in business and art.
Ty Eastin is a 2023 graduate, and he received a $1,000 Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship. Ty will begin studying engineering at Kaskaskia College this fall.
Jason Skocy is a 2023 graduate, and he received a $1,000 Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship. He will attend the University of Mississippi to begin studying Criminal Justice with an emphasis on Homeland Security.
Quentin Wright is a 2023 graduate, and he received a $1,000 Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship. He will begin pursuing vocational studies at Parkland College.
Berit Haldorsen is a 2023 graduate, and she received a $1,000 Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship. She will begin pursuing a business degree at Eastern Illinois University.
Callen Haldorsen is a 2021 graduate, and she received a $1,000 Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship. Callan attends Eastern Illinois University and is pursuing a business degree.
The Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship, a Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation fund, provides financial assistance for Mattoon High School seniors pursuing higher education. Donations from individuals, alumni, classes, and the community contribute to an endowed fund that continues growing and providing scholarships into perpetuity.
