SICF announces scholarship opportunities for Shelby County students and alumni

(Shelbyville, Illinois – January 23, 2024) Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is now accepting applications for the following scholarships. Bruce V. Penwell, Jr. Nursing Scholarship

The Bruce V. Penwell, Jr. Nursing Scholarship provides scholarships to residents pursuing a nursing degree in three Illinois Counties: Effingham, Shelby, and Christian. Bruce V.  Penwell, Jr. was born in Pana, IL, and graduated from Beecher City High School. He attended Un. of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and worked in sales and marketing in the animal health industry. Bruce had a lifelong interest in the people and the surrounding area of rural east central Illinois.

Elizabeth Ann Weidner Scholarship

This scholarship is for high school seniors pursuing secondary education, preferably in health, agriculture, or the arts.  Established by the friends and family of Elizabeth Ann Weidner.

George Wilson Bauer Scholarship

This scholarship provides an award for a Shelby County student studying medicine or nursing.

Hazel York Scholarship

The Hazel York Scholarship provides an award for a Shelby County student studying medicine or nursing.

Henry L, John L, and Catherine H. Smysor Scholarship

The Smysor Scholarship specifically is open to current seniors and graduates of Windsor High School and dependents of Windsor High School alumni.

Kenneth Diehl Scholarship

This scholarship provides an award for a Shelby County student studying agriculture.
