Roy Robson was a farmer who lived in Shumway, Illinois all of his live and never married. He had two sisters, Roma and Mary. Mary was a diabetic and required a good deal of nursing care during her lifetime. While caring for their sister, Roy and his sister Roma saw first hand the need for good nurses. As a result, both Roy and Roma named the Community Foundation as beneficiary of their estates. the foundation has established the Roy Robson & Roma Jackson Scholarship Fund for the purpose of perpetuating higher education opportunities for Effingham County residents planning to enter a pre-licensure program (i.e. Licensed Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing) or a Master’s Degree in Nursing. The first scholarships from the Robson-Jackson Scholarship Fund will be awarded in 2013.
