Cloyce and Barbara Johnson Education grant accounced

Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is pleased to announce the 2024 Cloyce and Barbara Johnson Education Grant. Jaime Newkirk, a 3rd grade teacher at Newton Elementary School, was awarded $500 for her classroom.

Jaime Newkirk received $500 for “STEAM Activities.” Jaime indicated in her grant application that as a new teacher, STEAM materials are lacking in her classroom. “I enjoy doing STEAM activities with my class as it builds positive teamwork and engagement in my classroom. Last year I would purchase the items and would be so happy to see the smiles on my kids’ faces when we were doing the activities together.”

The Cloyce and Barbara Johnson Education fund of Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is committed to supporting teachers in Jasper County School District Unit 1.

The Cloyce and Barbara Johnson Education Grant is one of several grant funds managed by Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation which also manages more than 250 funds for the immediate and long-term benefit of communities in southeastern Illinois.
