Members of 100+ Women Who Care Richland County selected Olney Valor Quilters, a local chapter of Quilts of Valor, as the recipient of the $3,250 collected at its second membership meeting of 2018 on September 13 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.
Quilts of Valor Foundation covers service members and veterans touched by war with a comforting and healing quilt. Quilts are requested by families and friends and are handmade by members of local chapters. Quilts are presented to the recipient in a formal ceremony. Olney Valor Quilters has covered hundreds of service members and veterans who have served in wars ranging from World War II to the present American conflicts.
100+ Women Who Care Richland County, a program of Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, will make one more contribution in 2018. New members may join at any time throughout the year. The amount of money contributed will increase as new members join. Members join the organization annually and sign a commitment to donate $200 per year. The first $50 commitment supports the 100+ Women Who Care Richland County Endowment, managed by Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, to address future needs of the community. In addition, every member pledges to donate $50 at each of the meetings for that year (whether they attend or not) to be donated to a selected nonprofit organization in Richland County.
100+ Women Who Care Richland County will host its next meeting on Thursday, November 8 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in the private dining room. For more information, contact Audra Clodfelter at 618.599.8224.
