Kobey Workman, Hailey Marsh, and Kalina Dunn have been selected as recipients of the 2018 Diane Siemer General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Scholarship.
- Workman completed his GED in March 2017 and is receiving a $2,500 scholarship to attend Lake Land College where he is pursuing an associate degree in renewable energy.
- Marsh completed her GED in April 2018 and is receiving a $1,750 scholarship to attend Lake Land College and plans to complete an associate degree in sociology.
- Dunn completed her GED in May 2018 and is receiving a $1,750 scholarship to attend Lake Land College and plans to complete an associate degree in psychology.
The purpose of the Diane Siemer Scholarship Fund is to perpetuate higher educational opportunities by providing scholarships to GED graduates in Effingham County. The scholarship was established by Diane’s family in honor of her long career in education working with individuals to earn their high school diploma by completing the GED test.
Qualified applicants for this annual scholarship must have received a General GED certificate within the last five years and reside in Effingham County. The scholarship is available to students who plan to attend a two year, four-year college or university or vocational/technical school.
