Members of 100+ Women Who Care Effingham County selected Crisis Nursery as the recipient of the $11,600 contribution collected at its first membership meeting of 2018 on April 12 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Crisis Nursery of Effingham County provides protection from and prevention of childhood trauma, abuse and neglect through 24-hour emergency shelter care to children birth through six. Crisis Nursery offers a unique and nurturing space equipped with safe hands and open hearts to all children and families in need. There are no income or demographic guidelines for their services, which are free to any family or child located in or near Effingham County.
100+ Women Who Care Effingham County will make two more contributions in 2018. The next meeting is July 12 at Heartland Dental. New members may join at any time throughout the year. The amount of money contributed will increase as new members join. Members join the organization annually and sign a commitment to donate $400 per year. The first $100 commitment supports the 100+ Women Who Care Effingham County Endowment, managed by Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, to address future needs of the community. In addition, every member pledges to donate $100 at each of the meetings for that year (whether they attend or not) to be donated to a selected nonprofit organization in Effingham County.
