Andy Vieth is the 2015 recipient of the Mike James Memorial Scholarship and was presented the award during Mattoon High School Honor’s Night. The scholarship is awarded to a MHS Senior football player and the recipients are voted on by a selection committee each year.
Andy is the son of Dave & Gail Vieth of Mattoon. He will be attending Lake Land College in the fall and will transfer to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to study nursing. He will receive a $2,000 scholarship over the course of the next 4 years.
The Mike James Memorial scholarship is one of several scholarships administered by the Mattoon Area Community Foundation. The scholarship fund was established in 2002 by Mattoon resident, Lorri James in honor of her late husband.
