Representatives of the Andrew Gobczynski Big Heart Foundation recently accepted a grant from Teutopolis State Bank during a Teutopolis High School baseball game.
Teutopolis State Bank Fund has awarded $500 to the Andrew Gobczynski Big Heart Foundation to fund heart testing for sophomore athletes at Effingham County schools.
The Andrew Gobczynski Big Heart Foundation was established in December 2014 after the passing of Andrew Gobczysnki. Andrew was a talented basketball player at Teutopolis High School and Eastern Illinois University who died as a result of a cardiac incident caused by an enlarged heart, a condition he was unaware of. In addition to health screenings, the foundation awards scholarships to students who have overcome adversity and display qualities of being a good citizen.
Teutopolis State Bank established a designated fund at the Effingham County Community Foundation in 2000 to support charitable organizations in Teutopolis working in the areas of civic, cultural health, health, education or social services.
