The Charleston Carnegie Public Library is launching a program aimed at teaching foreign language acquisition to preschool children. The Budding Bilinguals program will provide families with resources to begin teaching pre-kindergartners a second language in a home-learning environment by providing bilingual and language learning books, DVDs, and CDs in Spanish, French, German, and Italian.

Funding for the Budding Bilingual program was acquired through a $1,500 grant from the Mattoon Area CommunityWorks Fund.

The Mattoon Area CommunityWorks Fund is one of the grant-making funds managed by the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation. For more information, contact Janeen Emory-Kolb at 217-342-4988 or by e-mail (jemorykolb@enrichingourcommunity.org.
