Effingham Childhood Development Center After School Program Receives CommunityWorks Support

The Effingham County Community Foundation recently announced that the Effingham Child Development Center was the recipient of a $11,572 grant from the Effingham County CommunityWorks Fund for the “Lights on After School” and summer camp programs for children age 5 to 13.

Children participating in the “Lights on After School” program receive nutritious meals/snacks as well as homework assistance and tutoring. The school-age summer camp program activities including swimming at the Effingham Area Kluthe Memorial Pool, access numerous outdoor activities, and meals and snacks.

The Effingham Child Development Center opened in 1972 and is the only non-for-profit day care center in Effingham serving children ages six weeks to 13 years. The center focuses on helping families and children rise above their challenges, such as; single parent homes, low income, special needs, learning disabilities, health impairments, homework challenges, diverse cultures, speech barriers, and more.
