The Effingham County Community Foundation is also accepting applications for the Delbert E. Facklam and Maradyl T. Hughes Facklam Scholarship. Applicants must be a Teutopolis High School graduating senior who will be continuing his/her education at a college or university.
The scholarship was created by Mr. and Mrs. Facklam in memory of the Teutopolis High School faculty and the classmates of the graduating class of 1939. Mr. Facklam was born in Stewardson, Illinois and graduated from Teutopolis High School in 1939. He spent many years in the U.S. Navy and currently resides in California. Along with the application form, an essay entitled “How I Intend to Give Back to My Community” must be submitted. Special consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need. The application form can be found on the community foundation’s Website.
Completed applications should be returned to Mrs. Grinestaff at the Teutopolis High School by March 19, 2010. The award will be announced at Senior Honors Night. For more information, contact Amanda Standerfer at the community foundation at astanderfer@enrichingourcommunity.org or 217-235-2500.
