Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship awards $21,000 to MHS Seniors

(MATTOON, Illinois – June 21, 2024) Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is pleased to announce 11 Mattoon High School seniors and graduates have been named recipients of the 2024 MHS Alumni Scholarship. A total of $21,000 has been awarded to the following students:

Slater Trier is a 2024 graduate, and he received a $3,000 Florence Parker Scholarship.  He plans to attend the University of Tennessee to study aerospace engineering.

Laney Wright is a 2023 graduate, and she received a $2,000 Florence Parker Scholarship. Laney attends Eastern Illinois University and will continue her studies in business and art.

Miles Clapp is a 2024 graduate, and he received a $3,000 First-Mid Bank and Trust Scholarship.  Miles will be attending Indiana State University, Scott College of Business to study business, finance and banking.

Marlana Van Hoveln is a 2024 graduate, and she received a $2,000 First-Mid Bank and Trust Scholarship.  Marlana will be attending Eastern Illinois University pursuing a sports management degree.

Isabella Smith is a 2022 graduate, and she received a $3,000 Carl Etchason Education Scholarship. Isabella is attending Millikin University pursuing an elementary, math and physical education degree as well as health/wellness coaching.

Camryn Lee is a 2024 graduate, and she received a $2,000 Carl Etchason Education Scholarship.  She plans to attend Lake Land College for an early childhood degree.

Sarah Creel is a 2024 graduate, and she received the $1,500 Helen Janseen Scholarship.  Sarah will attend Lake Land College to begin her dentistry field of study.

Maisy Hughes is a 2024 graduate, and she received a $1,500 MHS Alumni Scholarship. Maisy will be attending the University of Illinois to study business and advertising.

Colton Smith is a 2024 graduate, and he received a $1,000 MHS Alumni Scholarship.  Colton will be attending Concordia University Wisconsin studying business.

Lance Chaney is a 2024 graduate, and he received a $1,000 MHS Alumni Scholarship.  Lance will be attending Deree College, The American College of Greece to study English and visual arts.

Ashely Earp is a 2024 graduate, and she received a $1,000 MHS Alumni Scholarship. She will be attending Vincennes University pursuing a nursing degree.

The Mattoon High School Alumni Scholarship, a Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation fund, provides financial assistance for Mattoon High School seniors pursuing higher education. Donations from individuals, alumni, classes, and the community contribute to an endowed fund that continues growing and providing scholarships into perpetuity.
